National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP)
The National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena was founded in 1956 by Thomas Townsend Brown, a former U.S. Navy physicist. NICAP was one of the most influential civilian UFO research organizations of the 1950s and 1960s. One of NICAP's main goals was to expose government cover-ups and bring UFO information to the public. This agenda caused NICAP to be singled out by the CIA's ROBERTSON PANEL. There are rumors that many of the top positions in the organization were infiltrated by the CIA. The group eventually became so ineffective that it was dissolved.
